Launch Your Business Career with Agricultural Economics

Agricultural economics ranks among the top careers for employability with one of the lowest unemployment rates and a high median salary. If you're eyeing a business major, agricultural economics offers unbeatable job prospects with organizations like Wells Fargo, JP Morgan Chase, governmental offices, and more.

Both majors provide a solid foundation in business and economics, equipping you with the skills that employers value. You’ll be prepared for a variety of industry careers from agriculture to health care, to finance and entertainment.

Going to college for a business degree can be daunting. That's we pride ourselves on the unmatched support we provide our students with in the Department of Agricultural & Resource Economics (AREC). Unlike other business programs, we feature smaller class sizes and promote a supportive community of faculty, staff and peers who are focused on your success.

As an AREC student, you have access to events, clubs and plenty of other exciting ways to apply what you learn in the classroom to internships and research opportunities — all to help you graduate and find the path that matches your interests.

Future U of A students must complete an application to be considered for admission. Visit the University of Arizona Office of Admissions for a complete list of admissions requirements.

Current U of A students interested in changing their major to ABEM or EWRE should submit our online change of major request.

The estimated cost to attend the university depends largely on whether you’re a resident or non-resident and whether you plan to live on campus, off campus paying rent, or live with a family member rent-free. You can lower your cost through scholarships and financial aid. You can also use our net price calculator to estimate your scholarships and aid eligibility, and total cost.
