“Receiving the Outstanding Master's Thesis Award is truly an honor that holds immense personal and professional significance for me. I am extremely grateful for the guidance, support, and expertise of my advisors, Drs. Josephson, Michler, and Frisvold.
A special thanks also goes to Dr. Thompson and the entire faculty at the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics for cultivating a nurturing environment that empowers all students to succeed.
I would also like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my friends at the University of Arizona, whose camaraderie had transformed the department into a second home, and to my family, whose constant encouragement has meant everything. This recognition inspires me to pursue further impactful research in applied economics and contribute meaningfully to the academic community.”
His advisors, Profs. Josephson & Michler, also shared their congratulatory words:
“I’m incredibly proud of Chandrakant for receiving the AAEA Outstanding Master’s Thesis Award. This recognition is a testament to the quality of his research and the dedication, creativity, and skill he brought to his MSc thesis. As he considers pursuing a PhD, this honor positions him extremely well for the next stage of his academic journey.”
-Prof. Anna Josephson
“Chandrakant’s MS thesis is a critical look at the way the economics profession uses (or mis-uses) weather as an instrumental variable in a whole host of contexts. The amount of literature he covers and the level of detail in his analysis are far beyond what is expected of an MS student thesis. This national award from the AAEA is fitting recognition for Chandrakant’s groundbreaking work.”
- Prof. Jeffrey Michler
Currently, Chandrakant is working as a Research Support Specialist I (a pre-doctoral position) at the SC Johnson College of Business at Cornell University.
